A brutal century from Everest Cricket Club’s Dwayne Adams helped plunge Diplomats to a 145-run defeat on Sunday in the Georgetown Cricket Association/New Building Society’s second division 40-overs tournament at Everest, Camp Road.

Despite sudden showers dampening cricket throughout the coastland, Everest was in top form as they took first strike, piling up 263-2 in their 40 overs.

They then restricted Diplomats to 145 all out in 31 overs.

Adams bullied the below par bowling of the Diplomats for his first century of the year.

He struck eight sixes and 11 fours on the large ground, even taking on the breeze rushing in from the Atlantic with shots that favoured straight down the ground.

Adams offered no chance to the Diplomats in the field as he rotated the strike and dealt in boundaries before he was stumped.

The 31-year-old stated that this was a welcome return to form for him having struggled for runs in recent times.

Adams opened with Mandreka Bhola who smashed eight fours and a lone six as he too sunk his teeth into the bowling line up.

He was eventually caught behind for 61 ending the 171-run stand between the two.

With the two batsman back in the pavilion, Richie Looknauth and Kamesh Yadram produced unbeaten cameos of 25 and 30 respectively.

When Diplomats batted, left-arm spinner, Javed Rasheed, jolted the top order, eventually finishing with 3-24.

He got support from Raylex Payne (2-26), Rojin Sookdeo (2-16) and Travis Mohammed (2-11).

Sean Hughes top scored with 25 with two fours and two sixes while Adrian Foster (23), Mertima King (17) and Sean Allen (13) all got starts but failed to carry on.
