With five precious quarterfinal berths still up for grabs, the Pouderoyen Tarmac will come alive tonight when the final group round in the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ West Demerara/East Bank Demerara zone commences.

The opening match of the night will pit Brothers United against Dream Team from 19:00hrs, with Up-Top-Bosses battling Up-Like-7 at 19:30hrs.

In the third contest, Phoenix Ballers tackle West Side Ballers in a virtual elimination matchup at 20:00hrs, whilst Young Ballers opposing Ballers Empire face-off in a must win affair at 20:30hrs.

The fifth clash will then pit Agricola against Bagotstown from 21:00hrs, with ESPN taking aim at Genna from 21:30hrs. In the final two matches, Rising Stars oppose Jetty from 22:00hrs and three time defending champion Showstoppers lock horns with Boom-Bang at 22:30hrs.

Tournament coordinator Travis ‘Zoti’ Bess during brief remarks said, “Heading into the final group stage night, for Boom-bang and Up-Top-Bosses, both of them need a win so it’s very important games. Also, Brothers United and Genna are in a similar situation, with both of them needing wins to go through. Group-C is wide open even though Jetty has won two games and could find themselves eliminated if West Side Ballers and Rising Stars secure victories against their respective opponents. Group-D is also very close with Ballers Empire and Young Ballers playing against each other for a quarterfinal berth in a virtual elimination match.”

According to Bess, “Overall I expect highly competitive and high tempo matches because the knockouts basically start tonight for some teams like Brothers United, Rising Stars, Genna, Jetty, Ballers Empire and Young Ballers due to the standings. The three teams that have already qualified are Showstoppers, ESPN and surprise package Bagotstown Warriors coming out of very competitive group-D. They have held their own and qualified. Showstoppers and ESPN are quality teams and they could possibly go all the way. Fans can expect a very competitive night.”

The top two finishers from each group will advance to the quarterfinal round. Winner of the event will collect $500,000 and a trophy, while the runner-up will receive $250,000 and the corresponding accolade.

On the other hand, the third and fourth place teams will pocket $200,000 and $100,000 respectively and a trophy. The other playing dates are February 6th, 8th, with the final pencilled for the 15th.
