Showstoppers bangs three past Boom-Bang

Defending champions Showstoppers, ESPN, and Jetty Gunners maintained their unbeaten records when the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ West Demerara/East Bank Demerara zone continued on Friday.

Another mammoth crowd was in attendance at the Pouderoyen tarmac as Showstoppers blanked Boom-Bang 3-0. Stephon Jupiter opened the scoring in the eighth minute.

 Marvin Josiah then recorded a ‘Guinness Goal’ [GG] [any goal scored in the final three minutes of regulation time and extra time, will be counted as two goals] in the 19th minute.

 Meanwhile ESPN battled past Genna 2-1 on penalty kicks, after regulation time ended 1-1.Qusi Weekes handed Genna the initial lead in the fifth minute, only for Trevon Lythcott to equalise in the eighth minute.

 Similarly, Jetty upset Rising Stars 2-1 on penalty kicks, after normal time ended scoreless. In other results, West Side Ballers defeated Phoenix Ballers 4-0.

 Kevin Frank and Morgan Denny recorded [GG] goals in the 19th and 20th minute respectively. Also, Ballers Empire needled Young Ballers 1-0 on penalty kicks, after regulation time ended 0-0.

 Meanwhile, Bagotstown Warriors, Brothers United, and Up-Top-Bosses secured walkover victories against Agricola, Dream Team and Up-Like-7 respectively.

 Due to this outcome, the tournament organizers issued two year bans to Agricola, Dream Team and Up-Like-7 and their players for their failure to take the playing area.

 The tournament continued on Wednesday at the same venue with the quarterfinal round. Jetty will oppose Up-Top-Bosses, while Bagotstown Warriors will engage Brothers United.

In the third fixture, ESPN will take aim at Ballers Empire, with Showstoppers tackling former champion West Side Ballers.
