Keevin Allicock continues to display why he is one of the Caribbean’s better boxing prospects.

The Commonwealth Youth silver medalist latest showcase was witnessed on Sunday night at the National Gymnasium where he put on a polished and entertaining performance against Trinidad’s Anthony Joseph to win his catchweight fight via unanimous decision.

During the most exciting bout of the 15-fight Patrick Ford Tournament, Allicock was the busier and more accurate puncher and was able to improve his record.
For his heroics against a game Joseph, the Forgotten Youth Foundation standout earned the coveted McDonald Trophy.

Trinidad’s Aaron Prince (left) and Desmond Amsterdam did not disappoint. The pair went toe-to-to and traded bombs throughout the entertaining three-round contest.

Meanwhile, Julius Kesney punched his way to the best boxer award after making light work of Kelvin Moore in their bantamweight scrap.
In the main event, Trinidad’s Aaron Prince and Desmond Amsterdam did not disappoint.

The pair went toe-to-to and traded bombs throughout the three-round contest. Prince landed the hardest punch of the fight, a crisp right hand to the chin that stunned Amsterdam and prompted an eight-count from referee James Beckles.

The close fight however was left in the hands of the judges and Prince thought he was the victor but Amsterdam was determined the winner to a smattering of boos.

Notes: This year marked the second edition of the Patrick Ford Tournament. Prior to the start of proceedings, there was a 10-count for Col Cecil Martindale.

Up next for the GBA is a School Boy Tournament on March 2 at the Andrew ‘Sixhead’ Lewis Gym.
