The champ is coming home.

Recently crowned World Boxing Association (WBA) Gold Super Middleweight champion, Lennox ‘2 Sharp’ Allen is scheduled to return to Guyana this morning for a series of public appearances.

The Brooklyn-based Allen and his entourage will arrive at the Dr. Cheddi Jagan International Airport at 07:05hrs. The slick southpaw will then make his way to the city in a motorcade escorted by police outriders.

According to Allen’s Manager, Carwyn Holland, a welcome reception at City Hall is planned for the unbeaten 33 year-old at 11:00hrs. This will be followed by a press briefing at Tower Suites two hours later.

Allen (22-0-1, 14 KOs) scored a convincing 10-round unanimous victory over Derrick ‘Take it to the Bank’

Webster (28-2, 14 KOs) to claim the WBA Gold belt last Friday night.

Allen dropped his opponent in the third round en route to an impressive  98-91, 98-91 and 97-92 verdict at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, Minnesota.

With the win, the road to a world title shot just got a bit smoother for Allen.

He told this publication recently that:“I have a title now, so I can call some shots, and in another week or so I will sit with my management team and plan our next step.”

Before the fight, Webster was ranked one place above Allen at number eight but the new champ stated that he knew all along he could win against the best in the world.   Plans are in the pipeline for a world title shot for ‘2 Sharp’. (Emmerson Campbell)
