Guyana to battle El Salvador in first match

Guyana has officially been drawn in Group G of the CONCACAF U-17 Championship, which is slated to be held at the IMG Arena, Florida, USA in May.

The Guyanese will open their campaign against El Salvador on May 1st before battling Honduras two days later.

They will then conclude their group campaign against Haiti on May 5th. The top three teams from each group will advance to the round of 16 stage.

The competition will officially commence on March 16th, with the qualifiers for the 18 lowest ranked teams. They will be divided into four groups, with the top finisher in each group advancing to the knockout stage of the Championship in May.

The Final Championship will begin with a group stage, in which the top-ranked 16 participating teams, will be divided into four groups. The top three finishers from each of the groups will join the winners of the respective groups from the earlier qualifiers for the round of 16 section.

The eventual four semi-finalists will earn berths to the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru.

The participating countries in the CONCACAF U-17 Tournament are Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Bonaire, Canada, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Curaçao, Dominica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, Mexico, Montserrat, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, St Kitts & Nevis, St Martin, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, United States and US Virgin Islands.
