After two weekends and 140 miles of intense racing on the roadways, Romello Crawford emerged winner of the Burnham Memorial Three-Stage Road Race on Sunday.

In a tireless display on the saddle, the 21 year-old was a model of consistency, winning the initial and the final stage while placing in the top 10 in the second stage.

The Trojan PSL standout was a marked man throughout the grueling event but managed to snare the spoils in a respectable six hours, nine minutes and 25 seconds

Geron Williams finished second overall 10 seconds behind while Andrew Hicks was third overall in 6 hours, 10 minutes, and 34 seconds.

In the first leg last Sunday , Crawford of Berbice took the top honours of the 46-mile first stage with a stunning solo victory after attacking late and holding off his breakaway mates. In the blazing heat, he stopped the clock in a brisk 1hr:46m.59s for the event which started at Springlands and ended in New Amsterdam.

This past Sunday he then took his 21- second lead to Linden and finished in the top 10 in the 65-mile second stage from the Mining Town to Georgetown.

He capped his impressive showing by winning the 30-mile finale a few hours later from Homestretch Avenue to Belfield on the East Coast of Demerara and back.

He would be looking to add to his trophy cabinet when the cycling season resumes on Sunday with the staging of the Cheddi B. Jagan Memorial 60-Mile Road Race from New Amsterdam to Port Mourant.
