Junior national TT c/ships serves off Friday

The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) junior and cadet championships will  serve off Friday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) and will conclude Sunday.

Some of Guyana’s premier junior players are expected to be on show in the bid to clinch the titles up for grabs and to gain national selection.

Day one of the three-day event will see the novices girls and boys going into action while the fixtures on Saturday and Sunday will feature the more seasoned campaigners.  The boys 18 years and under category is anticipated to be most entertaining since defending champion Nickolas Romain is expected to face stern challenges from the likes of Kaysan Ninvalle, Jamal Nicholas, Jonathan Van Lange and Niran Bissu.

Terrence Rausch and southpaw Isiah Layne are two other competitors who can spring a few surprises if opponents are caught napping.

Meanwhile, the boys  15 years and under category will present another showdown between defending champion Ninvalle, his nemesis Van Lange, Kristian Sahadeo and Layne. Those names are all likely to make strong showings to collect the throne.

Thuraia Thomas, on the other hand, is expected to take the girls Under – 15 title, barring a few upsets, while Neveah Clarkston who copped both the Under – 15 and 18 titles last year, will most likely retain the girls Under – 18 crown.

Action will serve off from 17:00hrs on Friday.
