Defending champions Berbice and rivals Demerara will square off in the final of this year’s Guyana Cricket Board Dave West Indian Imports Under-15 Inter-County Tournament at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), Bourda, tomorrow.

The two sides yesterday recorded comfortable final round wins to book their places in the final which is expected to be yet another exciting contest.

Berbice, over at Lusignan, defeated the President’s XI by 47 runs to remain unbeaten.

Batting first, Berbice compiled 135 before being dismissed in 47.2 overs. Skipper Isia Thorne, batting at number nine, top scored with 34 while Tameshwar Mahadeo (30) and Ravishkar Sobhai (27) played supporting roles.

Sachin Balgobin (3-23) and Nityanand Mathra (3-27) shared six wickets to dismiss the defending champions.

The select side, in response, was dislodged for 88 in the 45th over with Matthew Pottaya grabbing 4-20 to lead his side’s bowling effort while Thorne (2-29) and Salim Khan (2-9) supported.

Meanwhile, Demerara crushed Essequibo by nine wickets at Everest in a clinical display with both ball and bat. Chasing 83 for victory, Demerara raced to 83 with a loss of only 1 wicket inside 15 overs.

Opener Jadon Campbell was once again the cornerstone of the innings, ending unbeaten on 40 after carving out 7 fours to complete the successful run chase. The right-hander shared a solid opening stand with Thaddeus Lovell (16) before Lovell was dismissed by Gladwin Henry (1-23).

Campbell, however, saw his side home along with West Indies under-15 batsman, Movindra Dindyal, who struck 4 fours in an unbeaten innings of 22.

Earlier, the Essequibians were rocked by seamer Omari Lallbachan who snared four for 16 to spearhead a tidy bowling effort, dismissing Essequibo for 82 in 46.3 overs. The young seamer received support from fellow seamers Joash Charles (2-16) and Lovell (2-12) who both lent solid support.

Only Aryan Doodnauth (21) mustered any resistance for the Essequibo unit.
