Former President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana Dr., Cheddi Jagan has been deceased for the past 22 years but his legacy continues to live on through various activities.

One such is cycling.

According to information reaching this daily, the annual Cheddi Jagan Memorial  Road Race will ride off tomorrow in the Ancient County.

The 60-mile road race will commence in New Amsterdam and end in the hometown of the ‘Father of the Nation’ in Port Mourant.

Action is set to start at 08:30hrs.

As customary, the cream of the nation’s wheelmen will be battling for lucrative cash prizes on offer. The inform Romello Crawford who has been on a tear, recently winning the Burnham Memorial Three-Stage race will be one of the favorites. Paul DeNobrega, Geron Williams, Andrew Hicks, Cortis Dey, Balram Narine and Andre ‘Padlock’ Green will also be ones to watch.

Notes: The month of March holds much significance for the former President. He was born on March 22, 1918 and passed away on March 6, 1997. He served as President of Guyana from 1992 to 1997. He is widely regarded in Guyana as the “Father of the Nation”
