Teenagers, Afruica Gentle and Lafona Gilgeous were the only newcomers in the Guyana senior female team for the upcoming Cricket West Indies Regional 50-overs and T20 tournament billed for Guyana from March 17 to April 4.
Gentle, 17, has featured in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Under-17 Franchise where she stroked an unbeaten century and two fifties to finish with an average of 107.
She transitioned that form into the senior Inter-County tournament where she turned out for the GCB Select Under-19 team along with Gilgeous.
According to the GCB, the team will be led by West Indies all-rounder, Shemaine Campbelle as they seek their maiden title.
Campbelle, 26, has featured in 77 One Day Internationals for the West Indies and 91 T20 Internationals, most recently in the side’s tour to Pakistan earlier this year.
Noticeably missing from the side that appeared last year are Subrina Munroe who was listed as a stand-by player and Kitana Mentore.
