Defending champions, the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), along with the Gandhi Youth Organisation registered first-round wins in the 2019 GISE, Star Party Rental and Trophy Stall First Division two-day competition. 

 Over at DCC, the host got pass the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) by nine wickets to get their title defence rolling in the right direction. 

 GDF resumed the day on 154 for nine, with a lead of 29 runs and failed to add a run to their overnight total before being dismissed with Totoram Bishun (4-23) and Carlton Jacques (4-44) being the men responsible for derailing GDF’s defence.

 The host then galloped to 30-1 inside four overs to complete a comfortable nine-wicket win. 

 Over at Police, the host and Everest battled it out in a drawn contest between the two. 

 Everest resuming the day on 192 for six with a lead of 15 runs, extended that lead to 36 before being dismissed for 213 in 63.5 overs. Eon Rodrigues (3-48) and Anthony Adams (3-48) led Police’s bowling effort.

 Police in their second innings response, made 250-9 declared, earning a lead of 214 runs on the back of half-centuries from Kemol Savory (58) – his second of the match, Quentin Sampson (53) and Jason Heyliger (43) who missed out on a milestone. Leg spinner Troy Gonsalves (4-70) was Everest’s chief wicket-taker who reached 41-0 at the end of day two as the match ended in a draw.

 Meanwhile, over at GDF, GYO defeated the University of Guyana by 10 wickets. 

UG after winning the toss and electing to bat, were dismissed for 138 with Keron Roberts (53) playing the lone hand. GYO first innings bowling effort was spearheaded by Darshan Persaud (3-28) and Trevor France (3-32). GYO in their turn at the crease amassed 315 with Chris Deonarine hammering 80 while Yudesire Persaud supported with 58 to hand their side a mammoth 177 runs lead. Seamer Yekinin snared 4 – 58 for the students who in their second innings folded for 199 with France (3-50) once again featuring in the wickets column. With a set target of 20 runs to win, GYO coasted home without loss to record their 10-wicket win. 

 Over at Malteenoes, the contest between GNIC and Transport ended in a draw.

 TSC batting first, were dismissed for 158 with Akeem Redman top scoring with 42 as national youth player Dwain Dick grabbed 5-45. GNIC in response posted 336 – 8 declared with Shawn DeSouza hammering 14 fours and five sixes during his 168. He got support from Jermaine Groverner (52) as the duo lifted their side to a 178 first inning lead. TSC in response, produced a gritty second innings batting performance to end day two on 218 for five as the game ended in a draw. Sunil Singh was the mainstay of the inning after he stoked six fours and seven sixes in a knock of 86 while Nathan Persaud (39), Adrian Hinds (26) and Redman (21*) all played supporting roles.
