Defending champion Trafalgar will oppose Litchfield, while East Bank Gunners will oppose New Amsterdam [NA] Kings in the semi-final round of the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Berbice Championship, following group wins on Saturday.

Witnessed by a large crowd at the NA Ferry Tarmac, Trafalgar secured two victories on the evening to top group-A, in the process sealing their consecutive appearances in the final four section.

In their opening match, Trafalgar downed Hopetown 3-0. Kevin Layne Jr., opened the scoring in the 12th minute before Delwyn Fraser recorded a ‘Guinness Goal’ [any goal scored in the final three minutes of regulation and extra time counts as two] in the 18th minute.

In their second match, the defending champions edged NA Kings-B 2-0 on penalty kicks after the match ended in a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation time.

Prior to the conclusion, Fraser equalised for the eventual winner in the 15th minute after NA Kings-B had taken the lead in the 12th minute through Joshua Butts.

Litchfield defeated NA Kings-B in their first match compliments of an Akeem Smith conversion in the eighth minute.

However, they would suffer defeat in their second fixture, losing 0-1 on penalty kicks to Hopetown after normal time finished 1-1.

Carlos Grant handed Litchfield the early in the fifth minute, Akeemo Watts leveled proceedings in the ninth minute.

The defeat though would not deny Litchfield’s place in the semi-final round due to a superior goal differential.

Meanwhile, East Bank Gunners maintained their unbeaten record following two hard-fought wins. The Gunners needled NA Kings 1-0 via a Sherwin Nicholson strike in the sixth minute.

They would then return to the field to dispatch Outsiders 2-1. Joseph Giddings and Nicholson scored in the sixth and 17th minute respectively.

For Outsiders, Devon James netted in the ninth minute. On the other hand, NA Kings defeated Twenties in a must win encounter.

Twenties, who entered the match on three points following their 2-0 win over Outsiders, crumbled under the pressure of NA Kings and lost 3-0.

Jamal Butts commenced the rout with a 12th minute strike, before Quinn Hazel registered a [GG] in the 19th minute. With the win, NA Kings earned a rematch against East Bank Gunners for a place in the finale.  Also, the four teams that failed to progress from the group round, will contest the Guinness Plate Championships.
