BCB bashes GCB for non selection of Munroe

The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has called out the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) for their “non-selection” of Subrina Munroe for the Guyana Senior Female team.

The GCB last week announced the Guyana squad for the upcoming Cricket West Indies Regional 50-overs and T20 Blaze with Munroe being listed as a standby player.

According to the statement from the BCB, “The non-selection of Munroe in the team is nothing but a total injustice to a dedicated, discipline and hard-working player, whose professional attitude can never be questioned.”

In the release, President of the BCB, Hilbert Foster said he wanted to:“express his disgust at the non-selection,” stating “that some of the players selected ahead of the West Indies pacer would struggle to make both the Rose Hall Town Metro and Berbice Female Team.

“Munroe has always performed outstandingly well for Guyana and the West Indies and to downgrade her to standby status is a total insult,”  the statement read. The BCB advised the GCB to “get their house in order and select national teams based on performances, discipline and fairness, not on a quota system for each county or reward for clubs or boards who they view as supporters of the current system.”

The document explained that the BCB “demands justice for Munroe” but wishes the team “great success” in the tournament. However, the BCB renewed its call for matches of such nature to be played in Berbice.
