Presidential Guard will face-off with Band-Room, while F-Division will tackle A-Division-A in the semi-final round of the Guyana Police Force [GPF] Inter-Division/Branch 5-Aside Football Championship, following quarterfinal wins on Monday.
Staged at the Eve Leary ground in front of a sizable but energetic crowd, tournament favourite Presidential Guard Squeaked past Mounted Branch by a 1-0 scoreline.
Their opponents, dark horse Band-Room defeated an out-of-sync G-Division by an identical score. The two teams will face-off in the first semi-final matchup.
On the other side, tournament contender A-Division-A dismantled D-Division to send a stern warning to the field. A-Division-A secured the victory via a 2-0 score.
Meanwhile, F-Division-A sealed their place in the final four section at the expense of B-Division in an upset 1-0 result.
The tournament concludes today [Wednesday] at the same venue with the grand finale. Up to press time, the semi-final matches were underway.
Winner of the event will pocket $100,000 and the championship trophy. The runner-up and third place finisher will pocket $50,000 and $25,000 respectively and the corresponding accolade.
The Best Dressed Team will also receive $10,000. On the individual side, the Most Valuable Player [MVP] will receive $10,000, with the Highest Goal Scorer also walking away with $10,000.
