Peter Persaud got his aim spot on during the Guyana National Rifle Association (NRA) recent first Record Shoot at the Timehri Rifle Ranges at Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke-Linden Highway.

The competition was shot over the 300 and 600-yard ranges.

After the smoke from the rifle nozzles had cleared, it was Persaud who had outshot the sharpshooters.

Persaud has been enjoying good scores in recent months as a result of his dedicated training which allowed him to pip Lennox Braithwaite by one point to win the competition.

Persaud, a marksman of the highest class, amassed 98.06 points, shooting 49 (two V Bulls) at the 300 yards and followed up with 49 (four V Bulls) at the 600 yards.

Braithwaite, on the other hand, amassed 97 (10 V Bulls) having shot 49 (five V Bulls) at the 300 and 48 (five V Bulls) 5 at the 600-yard ranges.

Three other shooters, namely Dylan Fields, Ransford Goodluck and Leon Romalho, had a photo finish ending. They each amassed 96 points but with V- Bull differences.     Vice-Captain Fields with eight V Bulls managed to take the bronze medal from Goodluck’s four V Bulls and Romalho’s two V Bulls.

Fields shot 49 (five V Bulls) at 300 yards and 47 (three V Bulls) at the 600 yards.  Goodluck had 47 (two V Bulls) at 300 and 49 (two V Bulls) at 600 yards.

Romalho had 47 (one V Bull) at 300 yards and 49 (One V Bull) at 600 yards.  It was a keenly contested competition and some of the shooters are now awaiting the next Record Shoot to try and reverse their positions on the chart.
