Wins for Golden Grove, St John’s College and St Cuthbert’s Mission in Milo football

Golden Grove, St. John’s College and St. Cuthbert’s Mission secured wins in the Milo Secondary School Football Championship, yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue. 

Golden Grove defeated Cummings Lodge 2-0. Emmanuel Evans and Calvin Richmond scored in the 34th and 57th minute correspondingly.

St. John’s College downed Ann’s Grove 2-1. Dornell Trim and Teon Forde scored in the 40th and 50th minute respectively. For the loser, Mark Roberts netted in the 13th minute.

St. Cuthbert’s Mission dismissed Uitvlugt 4-2 led by a Mike Taylor hat-trick in the 15th, 37th and 58th minute. He was assisted by a Romalo Simon 11th minute conversion. For Uitvlugt, Malcolm Dainty and Darian Agard scored in the 46th and 61st minute respectively. The tournament continues today at the same venue with another round of group fixtures.

In the opening matchup, Christianburg/Wismar takes aim at Friendship from 12:00hrs, while Vergenoegen lock horns with Charlestown at 13:45hrs.

 The final match will pit Tucville against Tutorial from 15:30hrs. The tourney which is slated to conclude on April 14th, features 24 teams divided into six groups of four.

 Upon the conclusion of the group stage, the top two finishers in each pool, alongside the best four third place teams, advance to the elimination round.

 Winner of the competition receives $500,000 towards a school project and the championship trophy. Similarly, the second, third and fourth-placed sides pocket $300,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively towards a school initiative and a trophy.
