Despite the absence of Kevin Layne and Delroy Fraser, defending champion Trafalgar successfully retained their Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Berbice title, easing past New Amsterdam [NA] Kings 2-0 on Saturday in the grand finale.
The mammoth partisan crowd that swarmed the NA Ferry Tarmac, departed the venue in a gloomy state as the West Berbicians overcame their East Berbice counterparts, compliments of goals from Olvis Mitchell and Tevin McKenzie.
The nippy Mitchell opened the scoring in the 13th minute, slotting his effort through the legs of the final defender to silence the crowd, after racing onto a pass from Delwyn Fraser.
The contest was then sealed in the second half as McKenzie slotted home in the 27th minute to ensure the title remains in the West Coast Berbice district.
