After sitting out the first leg of the local Triple Crown due to injury, Guyana’s premier trotter returns to the Rising Sun Turf Club on Sunday for the second leg of the historic fixture.

The West Coast Berbice based Club is a familiar stomping ground for the Chestnut filly who has been undefeated in three starts at the venue.

The handlers of Vera’s Finally, the two time winner of the prestigious Guyana Cup, will be gunning for a winning start to her 2019 campaign after her success in 2017 and last year.

Imported in 2017 from Florida, the Jumbo Jet Racing Stables (JJRS) thoroughbred will be matching strides with the likes of TNT and Storm Bird in the C and Lower seven-furlong event.

Boss of the JJRS, Nasrudeen Mohamed Jr. told Stabroek Sport yesterday that the feature race on the card should be a scorcher and he anticipates the fastest local seven-furlong event will be run in three days since Vera’s Finally is “looking like a winner in training”.

He also stated that the track is well prepared and the weather has been ‘excellent’.

Mohamed Jr. then reminded that in excess of $8M in cash and prizes will be at stake on Sunday the card which has 70 plus horses registered. The card will also include events for trotters in the F Class and lower, Three-Year old Guyana Bred, H and Lower, J/K and lower, K Class and L and lower.

Starting time is 12:30hrs. See you there. (Emmerson Campbell)
