The Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) captured yet another Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) sixes cricket tournament by defeating the host by two wickets in an exciting contest yesterday.

The final between DCC and MSC saw the latter taking first strike and mustering a par 67-1 from their allotted six overs. The enterprising Shaquille Williams led the way with an unbeaten inning of 30 with four fours and two maximums while skipper Steven Jacobs (19) played the supporting role.

The target, however, was too small  for the DCC unit whose skipper Christopher Barnwell swatted his opposite number Jacobs for 29 runs off the first over to send his side on its merry way.

MSC, however, fought their way back into the contest with a few quick wickets before Tevin Imlach carved out three fours and a maximum in an unbeaten inning of 25 to see his side home and to the winning purse of one hundred thousand dollars.

DCC in their semi-final defeated Police while MSC overcame Leon Johnson’s Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC).
