Defending men’s Under – 21 singles champion Shemar Britton was unsuccessful in his bid to retain his crown as he went down to Cuban Livan Martinez in the under – 21 final of the 2019 Caribbean Regional Table Tennis Federation (CRTTF) senior championship at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) on Friday evening. 

 Britton who played aggressively and at times allowed key moments to slip through his grasp, loss the match 9-11, 7-11, 9-11, 9-11 to the slightly sharper looking Martinez. 

 Britton secured a place in the finale by working over Bajan Tyrese Knight 8-11, 11-8, 11-5, 11-5.

 Meanwhile, Priscilla Greaves, who was Guyana’s best chance of securing a medal in the girls under – 21 category, was defeated by finalist Esmerlyn Castro of the Dominican Republic 12-10, 11-6, 11-7 in the quarter-finals. Castro was defeated by Cuban Daniela Carrazana Fonseca 4-2 in finals which prevented her from copping her fourth gold of the championships. 

 Guyana’s Colin France, playing in the 45+ category had to settle for bronze after he was defeated by Teddy Matthews 16-14, 11-9, 11-10 in their quarter-final bout.
