Contrasting wins for New Amsterdam teams

New Amsterdam Multilateral and New Amsterdam Technical Institute [NATI] secured contrasting wins when the regional conference of the National School Basketball Festival [NSBF] commenced yesterday at the Vryman’s Ervin court.

New Amsterdam Multilateral edged Vryman’s Erven 28-20. Shaquan Lucas, Tarek Roberts and Imtiaz Jaundoo scored seven, six and six points each.

For the losers, Tayron Evans and Brandon Gajraj netted seven and five points respectively. Meanwhile, NATI defeated Berbice High 34-21.

Prior to the commencement of the match, Berbice High declared their intention to play under protest, alleging that two players from NATI were no longer students of the institution. The claim is being investigated by the coordinators.

Nevertheless, Keyon Clarke led the victor with 18 points, with Kareem Dover adding eight points each. For the loser, Charles Williams battled to 14 points.

The tournament will continues today at the Rose Hall Community Center ground. The opening match will witness Lower Corentyne locking horns with Port Mourant Training School from 1:00pm.

In the second fixture, JC Chandesingh will tackle Corentyne Comprehensive at 2:00pm. The tournament is coordinated by the Youth Basketball Guyana [YBG] promotional group.
