Guyana recorded their third straight win after defeating Windward Islands by 18 runs in the fourth round of the Cricket West Indies T20 Blaze last night at the National Stadium, Providence.

Guyana were sent in to bat where they crumbled from a good start to finish on 105-8 in their 20 overs before containing Windwards to 87-8 in their full quota.

Sheneta Grimmond, batting with a sprained ankle, smashed the first delivery of the match through the covers for a boundary but had her stumps scattered in the second over.

Erva Giddings traps Glenden Turtin leg before wicket to finish with 3-16.

However, the fall of her wicket paved the way for Tremayne Smartt and Shemaine Campbelle to share in a 66-run partnership for the second wicket.

The 72-ball union saw Campbelle scoring 28 from 33 balls consisting of two boundaries before being caught at long on by Qiana Joseph in the third ball of the 13th over.

In an eventful 13th over continued with Joseph putting down Smartt on 36 off the next delivery while substitute fielder, Pearl Etienne dropped Shabika Gajnabi on zero at long-off, off the fifth ball of the over before was stumped trying to swipe through the off side for 40 from 43 balls, decorated with five boundaries.

Guyana began to crumble with Gajnabi being trapped leg before wicket as Akaze Thompson, Cherry Ann Fraser and Erva Giddings all being run out.

In the chase, Giddings produced another fantastic spell of left arm seam, removing the two most destructive batters and the backbone of Windwards, Afy Fletcher (06) and Juliana Nero (00) via leg before wicket off of successive balls to finish with 3-16.

Giddings found support from Thompson who removed Stacy Ann Adams for 17 as well as Qiana Joseph to finish with 2-7 from her four overs.

Guyana continued to clawed their way further into the contest with Swayline William being run out and Akira Peters bamboozled by Grimmond.

Neasha Crafton top scored with a ball-a-run 22 consisting of four boundaries.

They will close off the tournament in a battle under lights against Barbados.
