Back Circle edges Melanie in feature clash

Back Circle, Young Ballers, Hustlers and Stabroek Ballers secured victories on Tuesday in the Stag Beer Futsal Championship at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

In front of a small crowd, Back Circle defeated edged Melanie 2-1 in the feature clash of the evening.

Stephon McLean tallied a brace in the fourth and 22nd minute to secure the hard-fought victory. For Melanie, Leon Roberts recorded the fastest goal of the tournament with a strike in the 10th second.

Stabroek Ballers edged Stevedore by an identical score. Henry Sampson and Ken Wilson scored in the fifth and 24th minute respectively. For the loser, Ryan Blackman netted in the 24th minute.

On the other hand, Young Ballers mauled Alexander Village 5-1. Junior Golden Jaguar Ryan Dowding fashioned a five goal blitz in the 15th, 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 25th minute. For the loser, veteran forward Leon Yaw netted in the 20th minute.

Similarly, Hustlers defeated Street Ballers 3-0. Sunil Logan bagged a double in the ninth and 11th minute, with Simeon Hackett adding a goal in the 12th minute.

In other result, Bent Street defeated Show-Stoppers via walkover. The tournament continues today at the same venue with another round of matches. Kingston will oppose Norton Street at 20:00hrs, with Fearless taking aim at Albouystown from 20:30hrs.

In the third clash, Spot-7 battles Ansa McAl from 21:00hrs, while Germans will oppose Sophia at 21:30hrs and Tiger Bay will engage North East La Penitence from 22:00hrs.

In the final two matches, Gold is Money will take aim at Silver Bullets at 22:30hrs and Sparta Boss will lock horns with Broad Street from 23:00hrs.
