Distribution Warehouse trounces Sales

Distribution Warehouse defeated Sales by six wickets when the Banks DIH Limited Inter-Department/Branch Tapeball Cricket Championship continued on Tuesday at Thirst Park.

Batting first, Sales Department ended on 75-4 in their allotted 10 overs. S. Kevin and S. DaSilva tallied 15 and 10 runs respectively.

W. Yusuf was the pick of the bowlers with 2-12 in his two-over spell. In reply, Distribution Warehouse romped to 80-4. V. Buckles smashed 24 runs (4×6), with W. Baksh chipping in with 19 runs (2×6, 1×4).

Meanwhile, Berbice Branch earned their semi-final berth in the tournament with a perfect 3-0 record in Group C last Saturday at the same venue.

Berbice secured two victories against Essequibo, while also emerging victorious against Demico.

In the finals of Group C, Berbice defeated Essequibo by three runs. Batting first, Berbice struggled to 77-5 in what was a rematch of their previous group meeting. C. Curt recorded 28 runs (2×6, 1×4). M. Ferraira led the bowling effort with 3-8.

In response, Essequibo fell agonisingly short, ending at 74-6. S. Arjun top-scored with 16 runs (2×6, 1×4). J. Joseph led the disciplined bowling effort with 2-11.

In the first meeting of the teams, Berbice defeated Essequibo by 26 runs. Batting first, Berbice romped to 101-2 in their allotted 10 overs. C. Curt led the way with an unbeaten 40 runs (4×6, 1×4), while K. Bassant added 24 runs (3×6, 1×4).

Essequibo could only muster 75-8 in response. M. Ferraira top-scored with 20 runs (2×6, 2×4), while L. Persaud added an undefeated 19 runs (3×6). H. Adams tallied figures of 2-9 in his bowling spell, with C. Curt tallying 2-11.

Meanwhile, Berbice crushed Demico by nine wickets. Batting first, Demico battled to 76-6 in 10 overs. K. Gordon smashed 37 runs (4×6, 1×4). For the bowlers, C. Curt recorded 3-19 in his two-over spell.

In reply, Berbice raced to 81-1 in 6.2 overs. C. Curt amassed 35 runs (5×6), with B. DeYoung chipping in with 32 runs (4×6).

In other results, Essequibo defeated Demico by 38 runs. Opting to bat first, Essequibo posted an impressive 135-5 in 10 overs. Extras was the top scorer with 31 runs, while M. Ferraria tallied 28 runs (3×6, 1×4).

H. Seeram was the pick of the bowlers with 2-29. In response, Demico ended on 97-6. B. Yearwood top-scored with 27 runs (2×6, 2×4), while K. Gordon tallied 24 runs (2x6s, 2x4s). K. Dhanpaul led the bowling effort with 2-22.
