once again a large turn out was present at the launching of the NSC Easter Swimming programme.

The National Sports Commission (NSC) yesterday launched their annual two-week Easter Swim Camp at the Colgrain Pool, Camp Street and the National Aquatic Centre, Liliendaal..

The turn out maintained its maximum clearance with 300 children participating in the highly anticipated programme.

Director of Sport, Christopher Jones pointed out that the event is one of the signature features on the calendar year for the NSC and has for years demonstrated the continued investment made by the government in sports.

Jones went on to say that it is through these very institutions that an Olympic star could be groomed from a diamond in the rough to a polished product.

The Director of Sport also encouraged the parents to be proactive and provide the environment for their children to chase their dreams and help guide them in becoming rounded individuals.

Seon Erskine, who functions as the Technical Development Officer supported Jones in his assertion of a future champion and pointed out the many benefits swimming has on the body especially in a Guyana setting which has developed a health conscious lifestyle.

The programme facilitates children from as young as six years all the way to 16 with a number of swimming coaches and trainers offering assistance in the programme.
