Winners Connection clinched the inaugural Linden Town Week Mayor’s Cup Football Championship, upsetting highly touted Eagles FC 4-2 via penalty kicks on Tuesday at the Mackenzie Sports Club [MSC] ground, Linden.

Locked 1-1 at the end of regulation and extra time in front of a sizable crowd, Winners Connection displayed superior mental fortitude to secure the coveted title.

They recorded four of their five attempts to walk away the happier of the two teams, with Stanford Bovell the only player to fail from the distance.
