After winning the 400m event at the National Championships last weekend at Leonora, the 23 year-old told this publication that once the conditions are right, he will be looking to rewrite the record books and become the fastest quarter miler in the nation’s history.

“Once I get the opportunity with the right conditions and elite competition to push me, that outdoor record could be in trouble” said Chance who posted a time of 46.05s on April 13 in Columbia, South Carolina.

The inform Chance who attends the South Carolina University clocked 46.42s to easily win the national championship last Saturday opined he will be running much faster in two days.

“No disrespect but I expect a higher level of competition at the Aliann Pompey Invitational and I expect to run much faster.”

Brian Roman (48.15s) of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and Revon Williams (49.20s) of Hopetown Flames were the other two athletes that occupied the podium last Saturday.

Meanwhile, the API which attracts high calibre international athletes will get underway at 15:00hrs, several meet and national records could be broken.
