Guyana began the teams’ campaign on a winning note.

A day after recording a string of stellar performances in the singles categories of the ongoing Caribbean Area Squash Association Junior Championship in Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana yesterday recorded crushing wins in the teams’ overall category.

Chasing their first title since their defeat to Barbados at home in 2017, Guyana downed St. Vincent and the Grenadines 5-0 in both the boys and girls’ category.  While Michael Alphonso – the boys Under 15 champ – and Gianni Carpenter received walkovers, Mohyran Baksh, Samuel Ince- Carvalhal and Shomari Wiltshire all recorded straight-set wins.

Leading the way for the girls were Beau Fernandes who defeated Ciara George 3-0 while Makeda Harding and Kirsten Gomes accounted for Jada Ross and Nadira Morgan by similar scorelines. Abosaide Cadogan and Madison Fernandes received walkovers.

Guyana’s next assignment will see the boys taking on Jamaica while the girls will clash against the Cayman Islands today.
