Guyana U15s whip Bahamas to set up Cayman Islands showdown

 Guyana rebounded from their opening loss in the CONCACAF U15 competition to defeat The Bahamas 5-1 yesterday Nicaragua at the IMG Academy, Florida, USA.

The contest was effectively over at the end of the first half when Guyana seized a 4-1 advantage.

Antwone Vasconcellos, Brandon Solomon, Colin Henriques and Kevin Mullin netted in the seventh, 12th, 20th and 42nd minute.

Daniel Lowe added further gloss to the score with a 51st minute conversion. For The Bahamians, Jordan Wilson equalised in the eighth minute.

Guyana’s starting XI for the clash reads Goalkeeper Shavid Hernandez, Zakeel Flatts, Romel Medas, Devon Padmore, Brandon Solomon, Rajan Ramdeholl (C), Mullin, Marcus Tudor, Antwone Vasconcellos, Samuel Garnett and Colin Henriques

 Guyana’s final group match takes place tomorrow from 9:00am against the Cayman Islands. A win would seal Guyana’s place in the quarterfinal round.

The 42-team tournament which features guest entrants Portugal, Slovenia and Israel, is divided into three divisions based on the confederation’s U17 2019 ranking.

 Guyana is in Division-2 (Group E-H) along with 15 other teams including Israel. The top two from each pool advances to the quarterfinal to contest for the division title.
