Pele ease to a 3-0 win over a determined Determinators

Pele crushed a determined Mahaica Determinators 3-0 when the 4th Annual Limacol Football Championship resumed Tuesday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Daniel Gibson handed the Georgetown outfit the lead in the 24th minute, racing onto a through pass before stabbing his effort past the advancing goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation.

The goal proved to be the only conversion of the first half.

Derwin George would then increase their lead in the 52nd minute with a brilliant finish.

Sprinting onto a through pass just inside the left side of the penalty box, George, with the outside of his boot, lobbed his effort over the onrushing goalkeeper into the top right corner.

The result was sealed 10 minutes later via an own goal, as a flat cross from the left side was inadvertently directed into the lower right corner by the sliding tackle of the defender.

Meanwhile Pouderoyen and Beacons battled to a 1-1 draw in a cagey and bruising contest.

Eon Sullivan handed Pouderoyen the lead in the 29th minute, directing his header into the left corner after latching onto a right sided cross from wingback Kevin Humphrey.

This lead would remain unchanged heading into the halftime interval. Beacons equalized in the 64th minute compliments of a goalkeeping blunder.

A regulation left sided cross 40 yards from the goal by defender Wesley Greenidge, inexplicably went through the grasp of the custodian and settled into the right hand corner of the net.

Both teams would eventually finish the match with 10 players following respective red cards.

Pouderoyen incurred the first red card in the 71st minute as Humphrey was issued with his marching orders for showing dissent towards the official.

On the other hand, Kimba Braithwaite recorded his second bookable offense in the 85th minute for a rash challenge. The event will continue tomorrow [Friday] at the same venue with another doubleheader.

Buxton Stars will tackle Georgetown Football Club [GFC] from 19:00hrs while Fruta Conquerors u20 will match skills with North Rangers at 21:00hrs.
