The Ferruginous-backed Antbird (Myrmeciza ferruginea) can be found in the Guiana Shield and in central Amazonia.
It is largely warm brown above, with immaculately patterned spotting on the wing coverts, a patch of pale blue orbital skin, a deep black face and throat delineated by white on the neck and breast sides, and a buffy ventral region.
It feeds on mostly insects, including grasshoppers and crickets, cockroaches, praying mantises, stick insects and the larvae of butterflies and moths.
