Marigolds

Tagetes commonly, called Marigolds, originated in South America and New Mexico.

Marigolds are a gardener’s favourite. It is a known fact that Marigolds are gardeners’ best friends as they help to control nematodes and soil-dwelling worms that plague gardens and vegetable beds.

Marigolds are one of the first annuals planted every year. They are easy to grow and reward you with many showy flowers of orange, yellow, red and cream. Use last week’s recommendations to germinate seeds.

There are several varieties of Marigolds. The most popular are the French and African varieties.

Until next week, Happy Gardening.
