Tiger Lily

On my recent travels I came across one of the most awesome sights: Tiger Lily being grown as potted plants. Lilies generally bloom around June to late August, but these were coming into bloom early.

Tiger Lily is native to South East Asia, China, Japan and Korea and are grown from bulbs. They are considered a hybrid lily as they are not found in the wetlands.

Tiger Lily is easy to grow in rich, moist soil. There are two varieties to choose from: the Oriental and the Common Wildflower. They have a strong and sweet fragrance.

Tiger Lily is said to represent prosperity, so if you do not have one, now is the time to get one.

They come in colours of white, orange and yellow. Like most bulbs they have a rest period.

Until next week, Happy Gardening.
