Summer rotation

Summer is my season. To be honest it’s the only season I truly feel happy in. Probably because there is less to think about in terms of what to wear and your choices are internally driven as opposed to externally forced.

Even though I have been dressing for colder climates for quite some time, I still can’t manage to get it right. I also do not feel any sort of constant delight in trying, like I do in the summer.

I try my best to enjoy not only the heat when it warms up but to experiment with every single trend that pops up on my Instagram explore page because if not now then when. There is a slight fear of missing out especially as I quickly approach my thirties. I worried that sooner or later I may be less motivated to experiment with all the trends. I am not quite sure if I like what I see genuinely or if I like it because I’ve seen it a thousand times but here a few things to look out for during the August holidays/Summer.

Making crochet work for the summer days

Tie dye

I really like tie dye. The only reason I have stayed away from it is because the tie-dye pieces usually tend to be boxy and more focus is usually placed on showing off the design rather than creating a silhouette to suit the cloth pattern. But yeah, tie-dye is having its Insta moment and if you are down for a 70s flashback this is your pick.

Biker shorts and pushers

Jeans are too long, and short pants are too short. Biker shorts and pedal pushers offer a decent alternative when you want to be in the middle. They seem really casual to me, though. I can never really see myself using these as staples to complete a look. Possibly because I have become accustomed to super short or super long.

Crochet

Of course, nothing too heavy to make you sweat even more, but crochet using the lightest/finest of materials is proving to be popular. It is hard to be elegant in the summer. Everything automatically feels like it should be easy and breezy, and this offers the best of both worlds once made correctly.

Naturally, every trend here is repeating itself. It feels like we are diving into our mother’s closets. But I suppose it’s also a gentle reminder we are never really running out of time to try everything and all trends are just in constant rotation.
