Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club will be looking to cement their status as one of the top cricket clubs in Berbice when they contest two finals this weekend.

Today they will contest the final of the Berbice Cricket Board Stag Beer 50 overs tournament against Tucber Park at the Port Mourant Community Development Centre ground while tomorrow they will play in the Ivan Madray T20 final.

The Stag Beer tournament is being played in honor of the late West Indies player, Basil Butcher, and, according to Rose Hall Town Captain, Eon Hooper, the team is in good spirits heading into the match.

Gudakesh Motie

Hooper said that the team has been consistent throughout the season and has proven itself as fierce competitors throughout the years.

They will look to players like Junior Sinclair, Keith Simpson,  Shawn Pereira,  Sylus Tyndall and Keyon Sinclair in the bowling department.

The batting line up is also packed with explosive hitters such as Delbert Hicks, Johnathan Rampersaud and Khemraj Mahadeo.

Tucber Park will be bringing the heat, and according to coach, Julian Moore, the team had decent preparation heading into the contest despite their training being affected by rainfall.

Tucber Park’s batting will centre around Martin Singh, Garfield Benjamin, veteran Anthony D’Andrade, Clinton Lindie, Devon Clements along with Kieon De Jesus, Malcolm Mickle, Joemal La Fleur and the ultra-aggressive Damien Vantull. National youth players Gevon Schultz and Leon Swammy should share the new ball with support from off spinners Joemal La Fleur, Kwesi Mickle, Martin Singh, Devon Clements and left arm spinner Vantull.

Tomorrow, Rose Hall Town will travel to Number 69 Vikings Ground to face fierce rivals Albion from 13.00 hours.

Albion will look to the experience of Kandasammy Surujnarine and Gudakesh Motie to lead the young side in the absence of Devendra Bishoo, Veerasammy Permaul, Anthony Bramble and others. However, Kelvin Umroa, Adrian Sukwah, Rajiv Ivan and Sharaz Ramcharan are all capable of picking up the slack.
