Prashad, Subhan, Mangra champions in Global Spare Parts tourney

Patrick Prashad, Ayube Subhan and Maxim `Danny’ Mangra won their respective Flight divisions Saturday at the Global Spare Parts and Auto Sales tournament at the Lusignan Golf Club.

The former club captain, Prashad, edged out LGC president, Aleem Hussain in the championship 0-9 Flight with a score of  72/8.

Runners-up Hussain ended on 72/9 while  former Guyana Open Champion, Mike Mangal, was third with 74/8.

Meanwhile, in the B Flight (10-18), Subhan finished with 68/14, ahead of Shanella London (69/15), Patanjalee ‘Pur’ Persaud (70/14), Lekhnarine Shivraj (70/16), Christine Sukhram (71/12), Mike Gayadin (72/12) and Mahindranauth Tewari (72/12).

In the ‘C’ Flight (19-28), Mangra gapped the field of golfers with 68/20. His closest competitor was Gavin Todd (77/19) who trailed by nine strokes. Rookie golfer and tournament sponsor, Hardeo ‘Curry’ Ganpat was commendable with 82/28 but Ramesh Amrud copped the best gross of the day with 77.

Former women’s captain and club member for over 50 years, Doreen De Caires graced the greenery once again with a net 100.

Ganpat congratulated the winners and expressed his appreciation for being involved with the club and its president.

Hussain expressed gratitude to the Ganpat family for their willing support of the club and the ongoing vision. He thanked the golfers for their good participation, and the groundstaff for their commendable work. He was also appreciative of the return of past President Hilbert Shields, De Caires, and Sukhram.
