Woman shot dead at Amelia’s Ward, `Spoil Child’ wounded

An Amelia’s Ward, Linden woman was yesterday shot dead and her boyfriend, ex-cop Teon Allen was wounded.

The woman was identified as 28-year-old Collissa Hunte. She sustained a gunshot injury in her chest and was pronounced dead on arrival at the MacKenzie Public Hospital.

Regional Commander Hugh Winter last night told Stabroek News that the shooting occurred at around 1.30 pm. He said that crime scene investigators up to 8 pm were still probing the scene to determine what would have caused the shooting. He said that a gun was also found in the house and there were several bullet holes inside of the house, where the couple was found.

Allen, he said, suffered an injury to his upper back and his condition is stable. Allen may have been the target of yesterday’s attack.

This is not the first time, Allen called ‘Spoil Child’ has been involved in a shooting. He has also had several brushes with the law.

In September, police issued a wanted bulletin for Allen in connection with the attempted murder of two women, Denise Grant and Tiffany McDeth. He subsequently surrendered and faced a charge for allegedly discharging a loaded firearm. He was later released on bail.

In October, he was the target of a shooting at La Penitence Market. Two men have since been charged with trying to kill him.

In August, 2017, Allen was charged with harbouring wanted men Mark Royden Williams and Uree Varswyck – both of whom had escaped from the Camp Street Prison on July 9, 2017.

In January of the same year, Allen was among three men who were charged with the illegal possession of an AK-47 and matching ammunition. They were taken into custody after the items were found by the police during a raid at a John Street, Campbellville house.

In December last year, Allen and two other men were nabbed after they allegedly attempted to elude law enforcement officers.

Allen was injured during the incident which involved police firing at them as they attempted to escape.

Their failed attempt to flee ended with them crashing their car onto the parapet of a Rahaman Park, Houston property.

The police had recovered a gun from the vehicle in which Allen and the others were in.

A video posted on Facebook showed the conclusion of the operation after the car in which Allen and his companions were travelling crashed with several armed policemen moving in on the vehicle and arresting the men.

Allen was also charged in relation to several other offences, including armed robbery. It is unclear whether he had bene released on bail.
