(Trinidad Express) The Jamaican security guard who hacked to death Rachel Logan was a demon who pretended to be a saint.

Logan’s son Keio Mendez said there were no signs that the man would have committed the heinous crime. “He was quiet, always smiling, but he was a demon. He pretended to be a saint. My mother never told us what was going on. She did not want to burden us. We never thought he would do this to her, take her away from her children and grandchildren like this,” he said on Wednesday.

Mendez, 27, said his mother met the man about six years ago, while working at a fast food outlet in San Fernando.

“She worked in the restaurant and he was a security guard. They lived together in Siparia for a while and about four years ago they started building their house and moved in,” he said.

Mendez said his mother never complained about being unhappy, adding that she cared for herself well and loved her children dearly.

An autopsy performed at the Forensic Science Centre in St James on Wednesday found that Logan bled to death. She was chopped multiple times about the body.

Logan’s funeral service will take place today at the Church of God in Siparia, then to the Shore of Peace for cremation.

Logan had confided in a church leader that she was not happy in the relationship and wanted to walk away.

The man, she said, was not violent but had jealousy issues.

Logan was receiving marriage counselling at a church and was advised about reconciliation.

No one knows what triggered the argument last week Thursday which led to Logan being chopped to death.

Relatives said the man, who worked as a security guard at a mall in San Fernando, returned home around 11 p.m.

Logan’s body was found by her nine-year-old son and another relative around 10.30 a.m. last Friday.

The suspect was apprehended at the back of the house as he tried to end his life.

He is expected to be charged with Logan’s murder.

A bloodied cutlass was recovered behind the house.

Relatives said Logan’s youngest son was receiving counselling from the Police Service.
