Two new COVID-19 cases recorded

Two new cases of the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) have been recorded within the last 24 hours even as two more persons have recovered.

The total number of positive cases recorded in Guyana has increased to 157 while the number of persons who have so far recovered from the virus now stands at 86. The number of active cases has decreased to 58, which accounts for the number of persons within institutional isolation.

Thirty-eight more tests were done during the last round which increased the number of persons tested to 1,854. There are currently 14 persons in institutional quarantine while one person is currently in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The number of deaths as a result of the virus remains at 12.

Health officials in the country continue to encourage persons to reach out to get tested even as the new mobile testing location from today to Friday is Industry, East Coast Demerara at the Community Centre ground.

Questions have been raised as to why the Ministry is not disclosing the locations where the new positive cases have been found.
