Police probing death of Somerset woman

The police in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) are investigating the death of a 32-year-old woman on Tuesday night shortly after she reportedly fell ill.

Dead is Romona Inniss of Lot 42 Goed Fortuin, West Bank Demerara.

Police spokesman Jairam Ramlakhan yesterday said that an investigation has been launched into the incident which occurred around 11.30pm at Somerset, Essequibo Coast.

Enquiries, according to the police, revealed that Inniss was reportedly intoxicated when she suddenly began to cough and vomit blood.

Shortly after, the police said she became unconscious and was taken to the Charity Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Inniss’s 47-year-old partner is presently in police custody assisting with the investigation.

An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted in the new week.
