COVID cases rise to 602

Guyana yesterday passed 600 COVID-19 cases.

This was revealed through the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard  which showed that Guyana recorded 34 new COVID-19 cases which increased the number of positive confirmed cases recorded since March to 602.

As such there are currently 391 active cases within institutional isolation facilities while no new recoveries have been recorded since last Wednesday leaving the number of persons recovered so far at 189. Some 53 more persons were tested during the last testing cycle. A total of 5,366 persons have been tested for the virus in the country, less than one percent of Guyana’s total population.

There are 49 persons in institutional quarantine facilities even as four persons are currently in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit. The number of deaths as a result of the virus remains at 22.
