President, other ministers test negative for COVID-19

The results of PCR tests received last night show that President Irfaan Ali, Prime Minister Mark Phillips and the Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo along with other members of the cabinet have tested negative for the coronavirus (COVID-19).

However, a statement from the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) stated that Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Oneidge Walrond-Allicock had tested positive for the virus and has since made a public statement to that effect. The statement said that  Walrond-Allicock is in self-isolation and is expected to be monitored in accordance with public health guidelines.

It was not made clear if the ministers who have tested negative for the virus will continue to work remotely or will return to regular duties which includes meetings and for some traveling to various regions in the country.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Minister of Foreign Affairs Hugh Todd had tested positive for COVID. This led to Ali announcing that Cabinet members would work remotely and that COVID tests would be taken.
