Former Foreign Minister Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett was today named as Guyana’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Statement by the Honourable Hugh Todd Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on new appointments at the Ministry 

As Minister responsible for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, I am pleased to announce several key appointments. The individuals identified will help to bolster the Ministry’s foreign relations, technical and administrative capacity, as well as serve to strengthen my ministerial mandate.  

I have identified former Minister of Foreign Affairs Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett for the post of Guyana’s Ambassador to the United Nations. She will also take up the Chair of The Group of 77 (G77) and China. Former Minister of Natural Resources Robert Persaud will assume the role of Foreign Secretary, while former Foreign Minister Carl Greenidge will be my Advisor on Borders. And, finally, Ambassador Audrey Waddell will be appointed Permanent Secretary.
