The burnt remains suspected to be those of Canadian citizen, Nicholas Ramkissoon Jaipaul, were this morning discovered in Molsen Creek, Upper Corentyne.
Commander of Region Six, Calvin Brutus said that the suspect told investigators that he was hired to murder the young man.
Brutus said the suspect led investigators to a location this morning where the discovery was made.
He said police are presently on the ground processing the scene.
Jaipaul arrived in Guyana in January from Canada on vacation. He was staying with his grandfather. He was unable to return because of COVID-19 flight restrictions
He was last seen around 7.30 PM on Sunday.
