Police find 64 pounds suspected ganja, motorbikes among Kingelly tombs

The Police acting on information today went to the Kingelly Sea Dam, West Coast Berbice and found two large transparent bulky plastic parcels among some tombs in the area and three motorcycles bearing registration numbers CK 4203, CK 1363 and CH 7170 along with a green haversack containing one Samsung cellular phone. 

In a release, the police said that while making further checks in the area a male whose name was given as Shawn and was in close proximity to the items started to run. The police give chase but were unsuccessful in their bid to capture him.

The release said that the plastic parcels, the motor cycles and the green bag containing the cellphone were escorted to the Weldaad Police Station. At the Station the plastic parcels were opened and they contained a quantity of leaves seeds and stems suspected to be that of cannabis sativa.

“Same was weighed and amounted to 29,030 grams or 64 pounds. The suspected cannabis was marked and photographed. The suspected cannabis along with the motorcycles were lodged. Efforts are currently being made to contact Shawn Storm. Investigations ongoing”, the release added.
