Four more COVID deaths reported

Four persons are recorded to have died within a matter of 19 hours from COVID-19 bringing the death toll to 39.

The four persons were confirmed by the Ministry of Health (MoH) to have died between Saturday night and yesterday afternoon.

The deaths comprise  an 80-year-old man from Region 4 who died at 10pm on Saturday, a 78-year-old woman from Region 9 who passed away at 8 yesterday morning, a 53-year-old woman from Region 4, and a 31-year-old woman from Region 6 who died at 5pm yesterday. No further details were released on the 4 COVID-19 related fatalities. This month has so far recorded 19 deaths from the virus.

Meanwhile, the MoH’s COVID-19 dashboard yesterday reported 50 new cases bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 1234, of which 509 are currently active cases. The cases are reported to have come from eight regions with regions eight and ten not having any increase in cases.

The breakdown of cases in the different regions confirms 5 new cases in region 1, 1 new case in region 2, 7 new cases (region 3), 24 new cases (region 4), 2 new cases (region 5), 1 new case (region 6), 3 new cases (region 7), and 7 new cases for region 9.

Four more persons are patients of the COVID-19 ICU, bringing the total to 13.
