Charlestown businessman shot during scuffle with bandits

A businessman was yesterday shot and said to be in a serious condition following a scuffle with two bandits at Drysdale and Lombard streets, Georgetown.

Lennox Robinson, 70, of South Ruimveldt Park, and owner of Robinsons General Store, was sitting in front of his establishment, when he was confronted by two males on a bicycle at about 12:10pm

A police report stated that an argument broke out, which then led to a scuffle between the men.

Robinson, a licensed firearm holder, was relieved of his gun and shot in the abdomen by one of the suspects, causing him to fall to the ground.

The businessman was picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he underwent surgery. He is said to be in a serious condition.

The suspects escaped with the weapon on a bicycle.
