West Bank Demerara fisherman stabbed by brother after row

A fisherman is now in a serious condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital, after he was stabbed in his abdomen by his brother on Tuesday night.

Nicholas Danesur, a 27-year-old resident of La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, was injured as a result of a misunderstanding between him and his 22-year-old sibling.

A police report stated that about 10:45 pm at the victim’s home, an argument ensued between the two whereupon the suspect armed himself with a knife and dealt the victim one stab to the upper left side of his abdomen before making good his escape.

Danesur was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was treated and transferred to GPH. He is said to be in a serious condition.

The suspect was subsequently apprehended by police and placed into custody at the La Parfaite Harmonie police station.

Investigations are ongoing.
