Aiming it says, to offer customers service “in a high-tech-low-touch atmosphere in light of the recent COVID-19 pandemic” Metro Office and Computer Supplies has announced the launch of its website and e-commerce platform, with effect from August 20.

In a media release sent to Stabroek Business, Metro says that in creating the website, the company aims to “further enhance the customer’s shopping experience” by facilitating hassle-free shopping options and by creating facilities for “safer methods of payment for receipt of products” through the company’s PayPal, MMG, Credit/Debit Card and Delivery services.

This latest upgrading of its service to local customers comes following more than twenty years of service to the Guyanese community, having been established in 1996. In the succeeding years Metro expanded its operations from a modest service facility at Montrose on the East Coast, Demerara, to five outlets strategically located within reach of coastal customers.

In an invited comment on the launch of the new service, Metro’s Chief Executive Officer Avia Lindie told the Stabroek Business that the launch of metroguyana.com was a momentous occasion for the Metro Guyana family. “The website showcases our company’s growth and development throughout the years and represents our attention to identifying the evolving needs of our customers.” She said that the new “digital storefront” offered a safe space, in light of the [coronavirus] pandemic for us to still meet our customers’ needs whilst protecting both them and our employees.” The company, she added, was “excited” over its recent venture and the contribution that it is expected to make towards serving its customers.
